Australia 1944 S Threepence Choice UNC

The escalation of World War II following the attack on Pearl Harbour by the Japanese created enormous demand for production. Australia was unable to strike sufficient coins and the United States Mints in Denver and San Francisco were contracted to produce Silver Threepences, Sixpences, Shillings and Florins. These coins, like the homeland issues, were struck in Sterling (.925 fine) Silver. To distinguish them from local issues  they feature a ‘D’ for Denver or ‘S’ for San Francisco on the reverse.
